PEUGEOT BOXER VAN
The Peugeot Boxer was the first van in the company’s range to be redesigned back in 2006. In addition to a fresh look and practical load area, Peugeot expanded the range in terms of lengths, heights and gross vehicle weights giving a loadspace of between 8 and 17 square metres and payloads from just over a tonne to just under two tonnes.
The Boxer shares its underpinnings with the other brands of the Sevel stable – the Citroen Relay and the Fiat Ducato – set to continue until at least 2017.
The Boxer marked the first time a new nomenclature was used for model definitions. Out goes LWB and SWB and in comes L1, L2, L3 and L4 (standing for the lengths) and out goes standard medium and high roof and in comes H1 H2 H3 and maybe later on even H4.
The four lengths are not thanks to four wheelbases – there are only three, but there is an extra rear axle overhang on one of the wheelbases to give extra length.
The outside of the Boxer is dramatic – following Peugeot’s design cues from the successful passenger car range – it is the most extreme of the designs from the Sevel partners. There is no getting away from the fact that it is a Peugeot van.... Read more >>
