Mitsubishi’s new ASX crossover has been launched with a commercial vehicle version – the Mitsubishi ASX 4WORK 1.8 Diesel 4WD. It uses the same Euro 5 1.8 litre common rail diesel rated at an impressive 147bhp as the car version. A maximum speed of 123mph is more than enough for a van with a gross vehicle weight of over two tonnes and therefore limited to 60mph on ‘A’ roads. A payload of just over 500kg is what you would expect in a vehicle of this class – they are not built for loadlugging, but more for occasional use and the storage of tools etc.
Servicing intervals are not great with just 9,000 miles or 12 months – compared to a typical small van which can often go up to 20,000 miles between garage visits.
