2012 MODEL FORD RANGER
The new Ranger – heading to our shores has been previewed at the Australian Motor show. As one of Ford’s global vehicles, we will be getting it in the UK by 2012 or before.
Packed wit new technology, the new Ranger even has a rear view camera system and voice control and will have 3 different types of cab and comes in a choice of two-wheel drive or four-wheel drive and two different heights.
The 2011/12 model Ranger will be driven by two new common rail Ford Duratorq TDCi diesels linked to 6-speed auto and manual gearboxes. The first, a 2200cc rated at 150PS and the second – a whopping 3200cc 200PS beast. With the modern 4x4 technology, drivers are able to select the driving configuration from a switch on the dashboard.
The new Ranger is longer and has a wider axle track, but still maintains a useable turning circle to help for the urban off-roaders. The suspension at the back of the Ranger is all new – it can cope with full loads and still manages to perform on and off road. ESP comes as standard, which includes yaw control and a system to help keep a trailer under control. Looing after the occupants, the Ranger has curtain airbags as standard all round.
