2008 MODEL FIAT FIORINO
The Fiat Fiorino is the first brand-new van range from Fiat to go on sale in the UK since the Revamped Fiat Scudo. Launched in the first half of 2008 it went on sale at the same time as sister vans, the Peugeot Bipper and the Citroen Nemo. A ‘cheeky’ little van with a set of ‘cheeky’ names.
Fiat claim that the Turkish-built Fiorino is the first ultra-compact van to have been specifically designed for urban use.
The Fiorino handles itself well around town - Just 3864mm long with a turning circle of just 9.95 metres, a payload of 610 kg and a load length of nearly 2500mm. Buyers can choose from seven variants starting at a retail price of £7,999+VAT at launch.
There are three trim variants: Cargo Base, Cargo SX, and Combi. There is a combi van with four seats and a 338kg payload and a ‘people’ combi with five seats and sufficient payload for 270kg of luggage.
In 2009, Fiat launched the Traction + version of the Fiorino – only available on the 1.3 SX diesel Fiat Fiorino van and the 1.3 diesel Combi. The soft-roader van gets added protection for the engine, chrome bumper, bigger wheels and raised suspension plus the secret weapon in the revised traction system which applies the brakes to the driven wheel with the lowest grip and transferring more torque to the other wheel, with the result that there is more grip to overcome slippery conditions. This gives some of the benefits of a 4x4 with none of the fuel economy and cost disadvantages.... Read more >>
