VW vans have announced a new power output to add to the new Volkswagen Crafter range. Already available at 109, 136 and 163PS the company is introducing a 143PS version. This version is, like the 163PS a Bi-Turbo Tdi. The new 143PS BITurbo has a maximum torque of 340nm available in a range from 1,575 to 2,250 rpm. When equipped with the optional BlueMotion technology, the Crafter panel van achieves 36.21MPG, equivalent to CO2 emissions of 205g/km. The 143PS engine is about 1 MPG better than the 136bhp version which is still available and already complies with emission standard 5.
The additional charge for the new version compared with the 136bhp version in Europe is €400 (net).
