To meet the impending Euro 5 deadline, Citroen have announced their Euro 5 Citroen Relay van. Not only does the new Relay meet the stricter Euro 5 emissions standards, it has also received a boost in power to make it Citroen’s most powerful van with 180PS on tap.
The 35 HDi 180 comes as a 6-speed manual in panel van and chassis cab formats and is on sale in June.
Citroen started out refreshing their range in February this year with the Euro 5 Citroen Nemo. Announcements will be staggered covering the remaining models in the Citroen van range.
The new Euro 5 Relay is an improvement over the outgoing model – the 35 HDi 160 variant – power is up by an impressive 12.5% and the same torque is delivered earlier on in the rev band, aking the new model easier to drive under load.
It’s not all about power in these austere times – fuel economy is up nearly 10% on the previous model with an impressive 33.2mpg and the corresponding CO2 output is also down 9% to 224g/km
Scott Michael, Citroën’s Commercial Vehicles Operations Manager, comments; “The new low emission and fuel efficient Euro 5 HDi 180 powered Relay models will be welcomed by operators needing the benefits of both high payload and load hauling performance, mated with optimum levels of fuel efficiency. We are confident that when the complete Euro 5 Relay range is available later this year it will offer very high standards of fuel efficiency and low emissions, which will make it amongst the cleanest and greenest in its class.”
