Just browsing through the vans for sale on the vanlocator website, you can see that prices have gone down for the same vans from this time last year. Early in 2008 the industry was still on a high – both in terms of new vans and used vans for sale. Since then, data supplied by the society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders (SMMT) shows the van market in decline every month in 2008 and a very poor start to 2009.
This doom and gloom has led to the downward spiral in new and used van prices. Especially noticable are the deals to be had for the double cab pick ups – already struggling for sales since the change to the benefit in kind taxation system the importers are trying to add on more and more accessories to avoid reducing prices to the bone.
If you leave it too late to buy your next new van, the impact of the Euro will have taken stronger effect, steel prices will have risen again and prices will be on their way back up.
