Iveco Daily Now with free SmartNav

Tuesday, February 17th, 2009

Iveco’s dealers have launched a special offer for retail customers purchasing and registering new Daily vans during the first quarter of 2009 (up to and including 31 March).

The offer will see all new Daily vans fitted with a free Trafficmaster satellite navigation system.  Named ‘Smartnav’, the unit comes with a complimentary 12-month subscription to the service, which in addition to providing simple instructions on how to get to any mainland UK destination, also alerts drivers to traffic problems and guidance around them, helps avoid congestion charging zones and warns of speed cameras.

Unlike other satellite navigation systems, Smartnav also provides 24-hour personal assistance at the touch of a button, and in the case of requiring emergency assistance, is able to instantly pinpoint the vehicle’s location.

Andrea Bucci, Marketing Director at Iveco UK, says: “Satellite navigation can really take the stress out of driving, and whilst it is booming in the car market, it still remains a luxury for many commercial vehicle drivers.  One of the major benefits of the Smartnav is that it constantly monitors the road ahead for delays, enabling the driver to select an alternative route in the event of a traffic jam and provide an accurate ETA.

Citroën Contract Motoring (CCM) is expanding its product portfolio with additional products to meet current financial conditions.  Citroen dealers are advertising these vans for sale at vanlocator.

Nigel Walker, CCM’s national sales manager, comments, “Today, business vehicle operators are facing difficult financial conditions.  As one of the few contract hire companies which is not dependent on outside finance, CCM is best able to offer the range of tailored financial products to suit its customers’ business needs.”

CCM is now providing a full range of contract hire and leasing services for Citroën Ready to Run petrol/LPG dual fuel converted Citroen Nemo vans, Berlingo First and New Berlingo vans.

DRIVENOW ELECT3 PRO monthly payments are kept to a minimum as the customer only has to finance the actual cost of the vehicle less the deposit paid and the Guaranteed Future Value.

As depreciation is the major part of the cost of financing a vehicle, CCM provides a Guaranteed Future Value based on the length of the agreement and mileage covered.

Also, CCM provides interest rate support as part of the DRIVENOW ELECT3 PRO package to achieve an ultra-competitive low figure.  And, to reduce the amount of deposit required from the customer, CCM also provides financial support for the deposit to minimise this outlay.

For additional financial security a PLUS option can now be added to any CCM Contract Hire or Finance Lease product.  This is essentially a GAP policy up to a maximum of £7,500.

CCM has also introduced a used van leasing scheme.  This provides lower cost leasing on nearly new Citroën vans.  The vehicles for this scheme come from Citroën UK sources and are no more than 12 months old.

California campervan, until 31 March 2009.

‘We’re offering these service plans across all vans for sale in the VW van range to give our customers an affordable package with greater peace of mind for today’s market conditions,’ said Stephen Bateson, Head of Aftersales for Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles.

The service plans are available to all retail and business customers with fleets of up to 25 vehicles who purchase a new Volkswagen Commercial vehicle between now and the end of March 2009.  The service plans offer a choice of four mileage bands from 45,000 up to 90,000 miles, or three years (whichever comes first) priced from £295 to £695 (plus VAT).

All regular service items are covered by these service plans which are also fully transferable to subsequent owners and available from Volkswagen’s network of VW Van Centres.

Are there bargain vans out there?

Tuesday, February 17th, 2009
Just browsing through the vans for sale on the vanlocator website, you can see that prices have gone down for the same vans from this time last year. Early in 2008 the industry was still on a high – both in terms of new vans and used vans for sale. Since then, data supplied by the society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders (SMMT) shows the van market in decline every month in 2008 and a very poor start to 2009.

This doom and gloom has led to the downward spiral in new and used van prices.  Especially noticable are the deals to be had for the double cab pick ups – already struggling for sales since the change to the benefit in kind taxation system the importers are trying to add on more and more accessories to avoid reducing prices to the bone.

If you leave it too late to buy your next new van, the impact of the Euro will have taken stronger effect, steel prices will have risen again and prices will be on their way back up.

  • Find the new Ford Transit vans for sale at VanLocator. We have many other Ford vans for sale as well.
  • New shift indicator light to improve fuel economy and wear and tear
  • Optional Thatcham approved alarm priced at £175
  • Available to order now

On-the-road prices for the new Ford Transit chassis double cab Utility will start at £21,876 which includes converting a regular Transit Chassis Double Cab into the new ‘Utility’.

A new standard feature on the Transit Chassis Double Cab Utility is the shift indicator light (SIL). Located in the instrument cluster, it illuminates for a short period at the optimum time to change to a higher gear. This can improve fuel economy, reduce CO2 emissions and decrease wear on engine and transmission components. It does not illuminate during periods of high acceleration, braking or when the clutch pedal is depressed. A Thatcham approved Category 1 alarm is also now available as an option priced at £175 on all Transit chassis double cabs.

The Transit Chassis Double Cab Utility has been introduced as a Special Vehicle Option (SVO) featuring unglazed second row cab doors with the rear seats removed. An additional option, available via dealers priced at £247, means customers can also combine this new style of cab with a panel van bulkhead to form a secure load area for valued equipment. Consequently, a bed-mounted box is not required which would otherwise take up load space, add weight and thereby reduce payload.

Steve Kimber, commercial vehicles director, Ford of Britain, said: “We know load security is a big issue for all our customers. The new Transit Utility addresses those concerns. Transit is Britain’s best-selling van and by creating bespoke vehicles through our One Stop Shop programme we can cater for thousands of different types of business. Transit’s dependability and robustness is the reason we can create vans that are effective business solutions.” To view a photo of the New Ford Transit
