VAUXHALL VIVARO 2006 MODEL IMFORMATION
Vauxhall have made some external changes, for the facelifted Vivaro, including the grille, headlights and indicators, plus some colour coding. In addition, Vauxhall have made some alterations to the inside of the revised Vivaro new materials for the seats and some shiny silver bits around the gearstick and handles make the overall feel that of a higher quality build. There is a choice of new sound systems and buyers can opt for SatNav in the 2006 model.
Other extras to consider are the parking sensors and an extra airbag for the passenger. Clever locking strategy means that the multi-button key can gain you access to the load area whilst leaving the cab locked and vice-versa.
The Vivaro is one of the few vans built in the UK – at Vauxhall’s plant in Luton and it is good to see the quality of the build inside and out. It was here and at the GM proving ground at Millbrook that the Vivaro was analysed thoroughly to develop improvements for the facelifted version. Manufacturing tolerances were improved, with panel gaps minimised.
ABS and brake assist (helping the Vivaro to brake more quickly when the driver stamps on the brakes) come as standard in the Vauxhall Vivaro and ESP is optional
Customers can order side loading doors on either side of the Vivaro – or push the boat out and have them on both sides – at the back you can have barn doors or a tailgate- with or without windows in them.
There is 5m3 of loadspace in the Vauxhall short wheelbase standard roof Vivaro – impressive by any standard, whilst the long and high version gives the operator a maximum of 8.4m3. Payloads go as high as 1,271kg.
The Vaxhall Vivaro has a new 2-litre, Euro 4, common rail diesel engine, rated at either 90PS or 115PS, higher than the pre-2006 82 or 10PS that the outgoing 1.9 litre units produced. Despite the increase in power, fuel consumption has not been effected but has significantly increased torque levels. Cam chans replace the previous model’s belts – making the 60,000 mile belt change a thing of the past.
The existing 2.5 litre common rail engine will continue, albeit at a higher power rating of 145PS. All Vauxhall Vivaros will be fitted with the 6-speed manual as standardwith an auto option on the two higher powered versions.
Plenty of choice of models, the factory are keeping busy with a choice of a dropside verions, or try a nine-Seat Combi in short or long wheelbase or go that stage further for a 12 seater minibus.
2010 SEES CHANGES TO THE VAUXHALL VIVARO
June 2010 saw an extra £700 of extras added to the Vauxhall Vivaro Sportive for an increase of just £250. These new features include a new five-spoke alloy, front fogs, CD and Bluetooth and some colour coding on the outside. Not part of the package, but available for the first time on the Vivaro is the steering wheel controlled cruise control.
All Vauxahll Vivaros get a new dashboard and steering wheel plus new sounds – you can now plug in your MP3 player and – if you pay a bit more – you can ‘tooth your phone too. Vauxhall are now fitting a full steel bulkhead throughout the range, but you can still downgrade to a driver guard if a full bulkhead isn’t suitable.
Service intervals are up across the range from 18 to 20,000 miles.
